Australia betrayed Coalition - Bush & Blair betrayed US & UK?

advertisement

Australia betrayed the Coalition and humanity. According to Australian Opposition Leader Kim Beazley (a loyal friend of America): "We have funded the Iraqi insurgency. And that has so far killed or maimed two divisions worth of American soldiers and countless thousands of Iraqis". Mainstream Media lying has compounded the betrayal.

The Australian Wheat Board (AWB), a stock exchange-listed monopoly, paid US$250 million in bribes to the Saddam Hussein regime as revealed by the UN Volker Report and the presently concluding Australian Cole Inquiry. However everyone in Australia who should have responded to "common knowledge" reports, intelligence, Canadian and US complaints and warning cables and e-mails was unmoved or steadfastly looked the other way. Notwithstanding receipt of 28 cabled and e-mailed warnings, the Australian Government still claims that nobody told them and that they knew nothing.

Prime Minister John Howard has been visiting North America and has been lavishly entertained and honoured by US President Bush and Canadian Prime Minister Harper. However Mainstream Media have let PM Howard off the hook, representing him as a loyal ally and defender of "freedom" - and effectively ignoring horrendous Coalition war crimes in the Occupied Iraqi and Afghan Territories, Australian funding of Saddam Hussein and the insurgency and current appalling revelations of widespread violence and rape of women and children (horrifyingly, even of babies) in Third World-standard, devastated, remote aboriginal communities in otherwise extremely prosperous Australia.

The BIG STORY of Howard's trip to North America was that the world's biggest Media Mogul, Rupert Murdoch, suggested (and then subsequently retracted the suggestion) that PM Howard should retire while he is at the top. Murdoch (known as "the dirty digger" in the UK) is the most important neocon supporter of Bush, Blair, Howard and of US-UK "democratic imperialism" (in my perception, democratic tyranny and US-UK state terrorism). Murdoch is the number one Anglo-American political kingmaker and is by far the most important media owner in his homeland Australia. The following letter (with minor variations) has been sent to North American Mainstream Media (and indeed to media around the world) - but will no doubt be overwhelmingly IGNORED:

Dear Sir,

In reporting Bush and Canadian PM Harper fawning over extreme right-wing, war-mongering, labor union-bashing Australian PM Howard, mainstream media may have omitted to report the following:

(a) US, Canadian and Australian complicity in post-invasion avoidable deaths and under-5 infant deaths in Occupied Afghanistan totalling 1.8 million and 1.4 million, respectively (UN data; passive genocide violating the Geneva Conventions and the Convention for Rights of the Child) [1],

(b) post-2001 opiate drug deaths totalling 1,600 (Australia), 3,000 (Canada), 3,200 (UK) and 50,000 (US) due to Coalition restoration of the Taliban-destroyed Afghan opium industry [2], and

c) illegal US$250 million Australian wheat sales kick-backs funding of the Saddam Hussein régime – cheating US and Canadian farmers, robbing the UN Oil-for-Food funds, depriving and killing up to 21,000 Iraqi infants, funding the post-invasion insurgency (according to staunchly pro-US Australian Opposition Leader Kim Beazley) and betraying American, Australian and Coalition soldiers in the field [3].

The Australian Howard Government still denies knowing about the illegal Australian Wheat Board (AWB) funding of Saddam Hussein – however effectively everyone else with an interest knew from the middle 1990s that such bribery was required for trade with Iraq. Echelon-informed US and UK intelligence must have known and indeed in 2000 the Canadians alleged Australian corruption – if Bush and Blair knew, then they betrayed their people, their Coalition allies and their soldiers in the field.

When I see statements like this

Australia betrayed the Coalition and humanity. According to Australian Opposition Leader Kim Beazley (a loyal friend of America): "We have funded the Iraqi insurgency. And that has so far killed or maimed two divisions worth of American soldiers and countless thousands of Iraqis".

coming from the mouth of Beazley I would takeit with a grain of salt.

Attacking Rupert Murdoch, is always futile as he is nothing more than a media whore. He does not care about what is printed only that they make money. What Rupert Murdoch, has created has tremendous power to do good, just because it has only been used for evil is not a good reason to scrap this type of media.

How many times are you going to seed or write the same themed article?

1 - 2 - and this one makes three.

Nothing wrong with doing it, but it is redundent. Not to mention you have zero proof the AWB has funded any insurgency in Iraq. It could just as easily been any portion of the est 10 billion that Saddam stole.

I SPY - Australians are generally also very sceptical of their politicians and for good reason. Thus as far as I am aware no Government or Labor Party parliamentarians have commented forthrightly on UN-derived estimates of the horrendous human cost of the Iraq sanctions (1.7 million excess deaths in 1990-2003) or the post-invasion excess deaths (avoidable deaths) in Occupied Iraq (0.5 million) and Occupied Afghanistan (1.8 million) - an outrageous, holocaust-ignoring bipartisan omission that is parallelled in the US, the UK and other Coalition countires (see: http://globalavoidablemortality.blogspot.com/).

However, in the present instance Kim Beazley's "wheat for weapons" pronouncement was indubitably correct and borne out by the Volker Report, the months of testimony before the Australian Cole Inquiry and a huge amount of evidence published and broadcast day by day over 6 months in the extremely conservative Australian media. The only uncertainty is the EXTENT to which the US$250 million corruptly diverted by Australians from the UN Oil-for-Food Program was spent on weapons used in the post-invasion insurgency. It is estimated that the diversion per se killed up to 21,000 Iraqi infants (see the speech of humanitarian Greens Senator Rachel Siewert to the Australian Senate, pp46-47 of the official Hansard: see http://www.aph.gov.au/hansard/senate/dailys/ds010306.pdf).

Correct, but your statement ("c) illegal US$250 million Australian wheat sales kick-backs funding of the Saddam Hussein régime – cheating US and Canadian farmers," etc.) flat out says it DID have an effect, you have only questioned the extent it was used.

You have zero verifiable knowledge to what extent it contributed to your conclusion of funding the insurgency (it just as easily could have been zero). You provide nothing but your assumption, a hope or dream that it would be true, and as a result it is an intellectually dishonest position.

According to the UN Volker Report the Australian corruption represented the biggest single corrupt diversion (US$250 million) from the FINITE, CAPPED US$35 billion UN Oil-for-Food Program spread over 7 years. The annual per capita medical expenditure in Occupied Iraq under the war criminal Coalition is only about US$23 (latest WHO figures) - the Australian THEFT corresponds to US$10 per head and is equivalent to stealing nearly HALF of the annual health budget of this devastated country that has been reduced to wretched penury by inexorable, violent, racist US democratic imperialism (democratic tyranny, democratic nazism, US state terrorism).

OF COURSE we are not privy to what the Australian and Iraqi beneficiaries variously did with their illegally obtained wheat sale billions of dollars and kick-back hundeds of millions of dollars. Appalled decent people like Mr Beazley can merely make a QUALITATIVE assessment that Australia funded the Saddam Hussein regime and hence the subsequent insurgency - and observe that THAT violence has killed and maimed thousands; and ditto, the humanitarian QUANTITATIVE assessment that this diversion of scarce medical resources has killed "UP TO" 21,000 Iraqi infants.

The ALTERNATIVE to such humane analysis is to simply IGNORE a gross abuse of humanity- a position that is both IMMORAL and DISHONEST. The Australian crime occurred in the context of UN Sanctions that were ultimately associated with 1.7 million excess deaths and 1.2 million under-5 year old infant deaths in Iraq. The post-invasion period has been associated with 0.5 million excess deaths and 0.4 million under-5 year old infant deaths under the war criminal Coalition (see: http://globalavoidablemortality.blogspot.com/).

There are 2 kinds of people in this world - those (notably racist, lying, holocaust-denying Anglo-American Mainstream media and their naive, neo-con consumers) who ignore, deny, minimize or support gross abuse of Children's Rights (most notably their basic right to life) and those for whom ANY human rights abuse is utterly unacceptable.
