World Bank report Growth and CO2 Emissions: Australia was almost unique in being a developed country whose emissions are not only very high but growing rapidly; among world's worst polluters per capita
Key quote: "among the world's 70 biggest producers of greenhouse gases. Australia was almost unique in being a developed country whose emissions are not only very high but growing rapidly ... On a population basis, Australia had the sixth highest emissions of carbon dioxide — 19.36 tonnes per head in 2004, roughly three times that of Sweden and Switzerland, more than five times that of China, 19 times that of India and 72 times that of Bangladesh."
Comment: Climate Criminal Racist White Australia is putting its anti-non-European RACISM on a QUANTITATIVE basis in terms of annual per capita greenhouse gas pollution it deems appropriate for various countries - thus the Bush-ite Australian Government wants CHINA to REDUCE its emissions implying that White Australians (and their similarly polluting American cousins) have a more than 5 -fold "pollution entitlement" i.e. are more than 5 times "superior".
How the Truth is upside down Downunder - extraordinary quote from the article:
"The bank report shows that between 1994 and 2004, Australia's annual emissions of carbon dioxide (the world's main greenhouse gas) increased by 107 million tonnes, or 38 per cent. Environment Minister Malcolm Turnbull declared yesterday that Australia was "leading the world on climate change".
Here are some figures on "annual per capita fossil-fuel-derived carbon dioxide (CO2) pollution" derived from the US Energy Information Agency that are in accord with the World Bank Report: "annual per capita fossil fuel-derived CO2 pollution" in tonnes CO2/person is 19.2 (for Australia; 40 if you include Australia's coal exports), 19.7 (the US), 18.4 (Canada), 4.3 (the World (4.2), 3.6 (China), 1.0 ( India) and 0.25 (for Bangladesh). Neither Bush America nor Bush-ite Australia will sign Kyoto nor cut greenhouse gas pollution – the countries facing devastation from global warming are the below-World-average polluting countries of China, India and Bangladesh (see: War on Terra. Climate Criminals": link ).
Thanks for that GP I got a phone call from the ACF today about this, I am shocked that the amount of emissions are so high.
Maybe it's also the measure of allegiance to the oily contingent here, the dirtier the figure the better the ties.

The Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alexander Downer, waxed lyrical about the business operations of Texas-based companies in Australia. "Not surprisingly, the bonds between Australians and Texans are warm and genuine. This reflects the many common traits, including the important role of agriculture and natural resources in the development of our societies .... several US corporations headquartered in Texas are active in Australia, such as Halliburton (25 offices in Australia), EDS (employs more than 6,800 in Australia) and ExxonMobil." quoted from [3]
At the height of the war against Iraq, Halliburton Australia faced protests at its office in Adelaide. "Having a part of this global robber-baron based in Parkside, Adelaide provides us with a unique opportunity to protest at and draw attention to its blood-soaked activities around the world. Look out for notices of a future demonstration"
