Cap-and-trade Emissions Trading Schemes (ETSs) slammed by climate economists

Britain's faith in carbon trading as a way of reducing greenhouse gases could be dangerously misplaced - in short it is based on a carbon price but the recent global market failure says that this price may also collapse.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

The failure of Cap-and-trade ETSs is shown by the dishonest, pro-coal Australian ETS that will actually INCREASE Australia' sgreenhouse gas pollution to 80% above 2000 levels by 2050 (see: Australia's "5% off 2000 GHG pollution by 2020" endangers Australia, Humanity and the Biosphere ).

Here are the expert opinions of a range of eminent scientists, economists and writers who variously condemn Cap-and-Trade Emissions Trading Schemes (ETSs) (such as the Obama proposal that is now to go to the US Senate) and argue strongly for a straight-forward, non-manipulable, global Carbon Tax – these expert quotes have been placed on the Web by the Melbourne-based Yarra Valley Climate Action Group here: Carbon Tax needed and NOT Cap-and-Trade Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) .
