"Excess death" is NOT a meaningless concept as asserted falsely in (post #2) - it is fundamental to any rational and humane analysis of the consequences of war, invasion, occupation or indeed any other obscene, racist and inhumane government policy.

As recognized by the Geneva Convention (read the article) the Ruler is responsible for the Ruled.

According to eminent British Jewish historian of WW1, WW2, Churchill, the Jewish Holocaust, Professor Sir Martin Gilbert, 1 in 6 of the 5-6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis died from deprivation - anyone ignoring or minmizing those deaths faces10 years imprisonment in an Austrian jail.

In Occupied Afghanistan most of the 0.3 million infant excess deaths (avoidable deaths) annually are caused by deprivation e.g. WHO informs us that the "total annual per capita health expenditure" permitted by the US Alliance Occupiers in Occupied Afghanistan is only $29 as compared to $6,714 in Occupier US or $3,122 in racist Occupier, Apartheid Australia, that is also involved in the genocide from deprivation of its own domestic Indigenous (Aborigine, aboriginal) population (see: WHO data ).

A domestic analogy: armed seizing of a house and its occupants is criminal home invasion, theft and kidnapping - but if any of the captured hostages (whether they be White Australians, African-Americans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Afghans, men, women or children) DIES then murder is added to the crime list.

it is insufficient for decent, civilized folk around the world to just eschew violence and war - they must also (a) inform everyone they can about the horrendous active and passive excess death consequences of war and foreign occupation and (b) apply sanctions, and boycotts, avoiding any avoidable personal or business dealings with the people, corporations or countries involved in such atrocities.

For many around the world that would certainly mean boycotting the evil media empire of Australian-turned-US-citizen Rupert Murdoch that has consistently supported Western or Western-backed wars and occupations in Muslim countries from Occupied Somalia, through Occupied Palestine and Syria through to Occupied Iraq and Occupied Afghanistan that kill about 1,000 children every day under Emperor Obama see: Hey, hey, USA, how many kids did you kill today? Answer: 1,000 ).

Introduction of UN peacekeepers into Occupied Afghanistan is hardly the correct approach to dealing with US Alliance genocide of Indigenous Afghans in the continuing Afghan Holocaust and Afghan Genocide (3-7 million violent and non-violent excess deaths, so far, under Bush and Obama).

The formerly Nazi Germans adopted an alternative protocol in response to the Jewish Holocaust, the Polish Holocaust and the European WW2 Holocaust in general, a protocol that can be summarized by the acronym CAAAA (C4A) – Cessation of the killing, Acknowledgment of the crimes, Apology for the crimes, Amends and Assertion "never again to anyone".

According to the eminent US organization Just Foreign Policy violent death sdue to the US invasion now total over 1.3 million (see: Just Foreign Policy. 1.3 million Iraq deaths due to US invasion ).

However in addition one can estimate 1.0 milion post-invasion non-violent excess deaths (post-invasion avoidable deaths from deprivation) i.e.post-invasion Iraqi non-violent and violent excess deaths total 2.3 million. Further, post-invasion under-5 infant deaths total 0.6 million and refugees total 5-6 million.

However it is estimated, notably from from UN Population Division data, that pre-invasion violent and non-violent excess deaths in Iraq due to Sanctions and the Gulf War (1990-2003) totalled about 1.9 million (see: Iraqi Genocide ).

This is an Iraqi Holocaust and an Iraqi Genocide as defined by the UN Genocide Convention with a numerical dimension (4.2 million excess deaths) approaching that of the Polish Holocaust (6 million dead) and the Jewish Holocaust )5-6 million, 1 in 6 dying from deprivation).

Those who ignore, deny, minimize, dismiss, excuse, or obfuscate atrocities such as (excess deaths in parenthesis) the WW1 Armenian Genocide (1.5 million), the WW2 Polish Genocide (6 million), the WW2 Jewish Holocaust (5-6 million), the WW2 European Holocaust in general (30 million), the WW2 Chinese Holocaust (35 million), the WW2 Bengali Holocaust (6-7 million) , the Palestinian Genocide (0.3 million), the Iraqi Genocide (4.2 million), the Afghan Holocaust (3-7 million) and indeed ANY holocausts or genocides, have parted company with decent humanity.

If one compares Syria and Iraq, infant mortality (deaths per 1,000 births) was about 150 for both in 1950-1955 (shortly after the colonial rulers France and the UK Had left): under similar socialist dictatorships it fell to about 50 by 1990; however when the US and UK armies devastated Iraq and Imposed sanctions the decline STOPPED in Iraq and has remained high in Iraq ever since in 2 decades of US-UK-imposed bombing, sanctions, war and occupation.

In desperately poor Syria, only partially occupied and partially ethnically cleansed by Apartheid Israel, only subject to intemittent Israeli or US bombing, and home to millions of Iraqi and Palestinian refugees driven from their homelands by Apartheid Israelis, Americans, British and racist White Australians, .the infant mortality is 15 deaths per 1,000 births as compared to 6 in the US - in contrast in US-occupied Iraq it is 33 and in US-occupied Afghanistan it is 157 (see "UN Population Division": UN Population Division ).

Some of the richest nations on earth - the US, UK, Apartheid Australia and NATO - are involved in never-ending mass murder of Indigenous infants in Occupied Iraq and Occupied Afghanistan, an unforgivable war crime for which George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Barack Hussein Obama (BHO), Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Tony Blair, George Brown, John Howard, Kevin Rudd, Stephen Harper, Nicolas Sarkozy, Angela Merkel and their war criminal associates and underlings should be arraigned before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Excess death (e.g. excess deaths of infants) is a fundamental measure of the success or otherwise of Indigenous government or racist Occupier policies.

Further, it doesn't take much - peace, goodwill, high female literacy, good primary health care and good governance - to keep infants alive. Thus Free Cuba, under US sanctions for half a century and with an annual per capita income about 30 times less than that of its partial Occupier, the US, has an "anual death rate" for under-5 year old infants that is about the same as that of the US (0.17% for both Cuba and the US in 2003; UN Population Division data).

The "annual death rate" of 7.0% for Occupied Afghan infants is evidence of one of the most evil and sustained crimes in human history - the sustained, remorseless, unforgivable mass murder of Afghan infants by the war criminal Occupiers of the US alliance - the US, UK, NATO and racist White Australia.

Indeed, as set out in this article, the "annual death rate" of Afghan infants under the democratic Nazi US Alliance Occupation is nearly TWICE that for Poles under the Nazi German Occupation.
